Fiberglass composites help develop new areas of ocean development?

On January 10-11, 2025, Zhang Rongqi, Secretary General of the Research and Development and Promotion Working Group of Fiberglass Products for Marine Development of China Fiberglass Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as the Working Group), and Zhang Xuan and Li Xiaolong, members of the Working Group, were invited to attend the 8th Second Council of the Standing Council and the First Working Meeting of the Deep-sea Facility Aquaculture Cooperation Group organized by the China Fishing Vessel, Fishing Machinery and Fishing Gear Industry Association.
The meeting reviewed relevant proposals, and through expert reports and corporate exchanges, deeply sorted out and analyzed the problems existing in my country's deep-sea facility aquaculture, such as technical bottlenecks, insufficient equipment research and development, and high operating costs, and gave relevant countermeasures. During the exchange session of the meeting, Secretary-General Zhang Rongqi emphasized the original intention of the establishment of the Research and Development and Promotion Working Group of Fiberglass Products for Marine Development, which aims to gather the strength of all parties, integrate industry-university-research resources, accelerate the implementation of industry-university-research scientific results, and promote the widespread application of fiberglass products in the field of marine development in all directions. During the meeting, the working group actively discussed with experts and enterprise representatives on the application of fiberglass composite materials in the field of marine development, and conducted in-depth exchanges and communication on material upgrades, performance improvements, reduction of marine biological attachment and thermal insulation in aquaculture cages, aquaculture platforms, fiberglass fishing boats, etc.
On the morning of the 11th, the participating representatives went to Chagan Lake for an inspection and visit, and experienced the fishing and hunting culture that has been passed down for thousands of years. The traditional fishing methods such as offering sacrifices to the lake to wake up the net, artificial ice chiseling, net walking under the ice, and horse-drawn winches were eye-opening. With the help of eco-tourism, Chagan Lake has not only increased local economic income, but also provided new ideas for the sustainable development of fisheries.
This meeting marks the beginning of cooperation between the working group and the China Fishing Vessel, Fishing Machinery and Fishing Gear Industry Association, and also explores new opportunities and tracks for the fiberglass composite products industry to get out of the dilemma of internal circulation and achieve high-quality development. In the future, the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation and jointly promote the innovative development and industrial upgrading of the fiberglass composite products industry and the fishery equipment industry.
