How much do you know about alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh?
Alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh, also known as mesh fabric or alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh, is made from medium-alkali or alkali-free woven fiberglass fabric treated with an alkali-resistant coating. It boasts high strength and excellent alkali resistance, playing a crucial structural role in insulation systems, primarily preventing cracking. Widely used in wall reinforcement, external wall insulation, and roof waterproofing, it can also reinforce cement, plastic, asphalt, marble, mosaic, and other wall materials, making it an ideal engineering material in the construction industry.
Due to its excellent resistance to corrosion from acids, alkalis, and other chemicals, as well as its high tensile strength in both warp and weft directions, it can evenly distribute stress in external wall insulation systems, preventing deformation of the entire insulation structure caused by external impacts and compression. This gives the insulation layer high impact resistance, and it is easy to install and control in terms of quality, acting as a "soft reinforcing steel" in the insulation system.
Advantages: Alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh is made from medium-alkali and alkali-free fiberglass mesh as the base material, post-treated with acrylic copolymer adhesive. This mesh features high strength, excellent alkali and acid resistance, strong adhesion to resin, easy solubility in styrene, and excellent stiffness and positioning properties. It is mainly used as a reinforcing material for cement, plastics, asphalt, roofing, and walls. It is primarily used for GRC pre-laying, coating, or mechanized molding, and is particularly suitable for on-site construction of external wall insulation projects.
The current national standard for external wall insulation (JG149-2003) stipulates that the alkali-resistant tensile breaking strength of the fiberglass mesh in both warp and weft directions shall not be less than 750 N/50 mm, the alkali-resistant tensile breaking strength retention rate shall not be less than 50%, and the weight per square meter shall be ≥130 grams. (JG158-2004) stipulates that the alkali-resistant tensile breaking strength of the fiberglass mesh in both warp and weft directions shall not be less than 1250 N/50 mm, the alkali-resistant tensile breaking strength retention rate shall not be less than 90%, and the weight per square meter shall be ≥160 grams.
