Alkali-free Fiberglass Roofing Felt For Waterproof Membranes
Fiberglass roofing felt is a widely used mainstream product among alkali-free fiberglass wet-laid felts, playing a crucial role in building waterproofing and insulation. It is primarily used in conjunction with core building materials such as waterproof membranes, asphalt shingles, and building insulation layers, serving as an indispensable reinforcing substrate in building waterproofing systems.
The standard surface weight range of this product is 30g/㎡ to 90g/㎡. Its basic tensile properties are superior to ordinary fiberglass surface felts, resulting in better mechanical performance. For production conditions with stringent tensile strength requirements, we can add dedicated fiberglass reinforcing threads longitudinally to the felt body for reinforcement. These reinforcing threads are made from fiberglass raw materials and, upon addition, significantly improve the overall mechanical properties of the roofing felt, especially the longitudinal tensile strength, which can be more than doubled compared to unreinforced products, fully meeting the requirements of high-load use and processing.
In terms of manufacturing process, fiberglass roofing felt is consistent with conventional fiberglass surface felt, both employing mature wet-laid papermaking technology and belonging to the same series of fiberglass wet-laid felt products. There are significant differences in appearance and physical texture between the two: fiberglass roofing felt is relatively rough and less smooth than ordinary surface felt; at the same time, the amount of adhesive added is also significantly higher, with the adhesive content of conventional products generally ranging from 18% to 26%, and the specific value will be adjusted accordingly based on the product's weight.
Taking the commonly used 50g/㎡ specification roofing felt as an example, according to the testing standards of textile-specific thickness gauges, its finished thickness is approximately 0.45mm. The thickness data may have slight deviations due to the influence of the testing instrument model and testing method. Under the industry standard ratio, the adhesive content of this specification is usually controlled at around 25%, at which point the longitudinal tensile strength can stably reach 175N/5cm or higher.
From the perspective of performance and product characteristics, the core value of fiberglass roofing felt lies in strengthening the overall structural strength of the composite material, giving the finished product excellent tear resistance. The product has a stiff and solid overall texture, which is clearly distinguished from the soft and highly adhesive ordinary fiberglass surface felt. Due to its stable performance, it has long been widely used in the production and processing of various building waterproofing and insulation materials.
