Characteristics And Applications Of Alkali-Free Fiberglass Needle-Punched Felt

Fiberglass needle-punched felt is a new type of high-temperature filter material with a reasonable structure and excellent performance. It is made from Fiberglass, needle-punched into felt. It has a three-dimensional porous structure, high porosity, low resistance, and dust removal efficiency exceeding that of woven filter media, reaching 99.9%. Its filtration speed is approximately twice that of woven filter media. This filter material is suitable for high-temperature flue gas filtration in industries such as carbon black chemical, steel, metallurgy, coal-fired boilers, refractory materials, and cement. It is suitable for use in bag filters with pulse cleaning and high-speed backflushing. Having withstood long-term testing under high temperature and corrosive media, it exhibits excellent performance, effectively controlling dust pollution and recovering valuable fine particles.

I. Excellent Characteristics

1. Excellent Thermal Insulation: According to physical principles, gases have low thermal conductivity, and excellent thermal insulation materials typically contain many air pockets. Fiberglass needle-punched felt contains countless tiny air pockets, and the fibers are irregularly arranged, making it an excellent thermal insulation material with a thermal conductivity coefficient of 0.2–0.040 kcal/mhr. Between c and d;

2. Non-combustible: The main component of Fiberglass is silicates (accounting for more than 50%), which are non-combustible, non-deformable, non-brittle, and resistant to high temperatures up to 7000°C;

3. Good sound absorption: When sound waves penetrate Fiberglass wool, the energy is largely absorbed due to friction with the fibers and air pockets of different sizes. Generally, the sound absorption rate is as high as 90% or more, making it an excellent material for preventing noise interference;

4. High insulation: Fiberglass can withstand high temperatures, has good mechanical properties, and high chemical stability, making it the best insulation material;

5. High corrosion resistance: Fiberglass is not afraid of strong acids and alkalis, and its functional properties will not decrease over time;

6. Good resilience: Fiberglass contains countless fixed air pockets, resulting in excellent resilience. It is not afraid of any impact or vibration, and its tensile strength is above 1.0 kg.

7. Low moisture absorption: The moisture absorption rate is usually close to zero. 8. Lightweight and Soft: Compared with other insulation materials, fiberglass needle-punched felt is the lightest and softest. When installed on machinery, it can reduce its weight and vibration load.

II. Main Applications

1. Insulation for high-temperature equipment from various heat sources (coal, electricity, oil, gas), and central air conditioning ducts;

2. Insulation for various heat insulation and fireproofing materials;

3. Sealing, sound absorption, filtration, and insulation materials for special locations;

4. Insulation for various heat transfer and storage devices;

5. Sound insulation, heat insulation, and thermal insulation for parts of vehicles, ships, and aircraft;

6. Sound insulation for the inner core of automobile and motorcycle mufflers and engine noise reduction;

7. Thermal insulation for interlayer insulation in color steel plates and wooden structures;

8. Insulation for thermal and chemical pipelines, with superior insulation performance compared to general insulation materials;

9. Thermal insulation for wall panels of household appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, microwave ovens, and dishwashers;

10. Other applications requiring insulation, heat protection, fireproofing, sound absorption, and electrical insulation.

Suitable operating conditions

This product can be used for extended periods at 240℃ and can withstand short-term temperatures up to 260℃. It is used for high-temperature flue gas filtration in industries such as steel, cement, power, non-ferrous metals, waste incineration, asphalt concrete mixing, and chemicals. It is suitable for pulse and high-speed backflushing dust collection methods and is currently the most widely used filter material in high-temperature bag filters.
