Xenia Materials, a global player in the engineering and production of reinforced thermoplastic composites, has launched its new ST Upgrade technology, designed to improve the impact performance of its fiber-reinforced materials.
Fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastics have long been widely used for their exceptional balance of mechanical strength, stiffness, and lightweighting. However, some applications require higher performance than standard grades. Senia's ST Upgrade technology (where "ST" stands for "Super Tough") significantly improves the material's impact resistance by an average of 60% compared to the original formulation, while maintaining stable and reliable performance at both room and low temperatures. It also enhances the material's flexibility and elasticity, increasing its elongation at break by an average of 40% compared to the original formulation.
ST Upgrade technology is suitable for a wide range of applications with high performance requirements: from aerospace and motorsport, where lightweight, high-stiffness components are key requirements, to consumer products requiring structural reliability, such as ski boots, ski bindings, hiking boots, ice hockey skates, and shoe soles and shanks.
Senia's product portfolio already includes carbon fiber and fiberglass reinforced materials based on polycaprolactam (PA6), polyhexamethylene adipamide (PA66), polyundecanamide (PA11), polydodecamide (PA12), polyhexamethylene adipamide-caprolactam copolymer (PA6.12), polybutylene terephthalate-decanediamine (PA4.10), polydecanediamine adipamide (PA6.10) and polydecanediamine sebacate (PA10.10), all of which have been upgraded with ST technology to achieve improved performance.
