In some repair scenarios, fiberglass composites are the obvious choice, for example for repairs on or around elbows, reducers or flanges. Complex geometries can invalidate traditional fixtures and steel bushings. Due to the flexible application of fiberglass composites, which can be locked to the necessary shape after curing, fiberglass composites can provide more comprehensive coverage than casings or fixtures. However, pipe geometry is not the only determining factor. If the associated benefits of fiberglass composites, such as avoiding service downtime, are critical to the project, then fiberglass composites may be a better repair option.
