Fiberglass Axial Fabrics And Composite Mat Fabrics Are Better Suited To The Fiberglass Reinforcement Molding Requirements Of Fiberglass Fishing Boats.
Woven roving, abbreviated as WR, is a widely used reinforcing material in fiberglass fishing boats in China.
Woven roving is a common reinforcing material used in fiberglass fishing boats in China. Similar to axial fiberglass fabric, it's a thicker fabric made by weaving untwisted roving composed of multiple fine strands in different warp and weft directions. It has strong impact resistance, a thicker layup, but is more difficult to form on complex surfaces, has weaker interlayer adhesion, and lower strength in the ±45° direction. Furthermore, the cross-weaving of the roving creates a wavy pattern, resulting in greater elongation under stress and a higher resin content; therefore, its strength decreases with increasing undulation. It is now often replaced by axial fiberglass fabric.
Woven roving is mainly used in the hand lay-up molding process in fiberglass manufacturing.
Due to the disadvantages of untwisted fiberglass roving, it is recommended that fiberglass axial fabric or untwisted roving composite felt fabric be used as much as possible when manufacturing fiberglass fishing boats.
